  Sports Medicine 

 

Below follows a summary of SUSPI's sports medicine offerings. Please note that the clinic hours for the sports medicine unit are from Mondays to Fridays, between 8am and 5pm. Bookings are essential.

Physiotherapy

 

SUSPI's physiotherapy services include the following:

 

·         Musculo-skeletal screening and prevention of injuries.

·         Rehabilitation from general injuries or accidents.

·         Rehabilitation from sport-related injuries.

·         Treatment of spinal- and joint conditions.

·         Treatment of biomechanical problems, and improvement of muscular control.

·         Treatment of neck- and back pain.

·         Treatment of cervicogenic- and tention-type headaches.

·         Treatment of neurological conditions such as strokes and multiple sclerosis.

·         Treatment of heart- and lung conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and atelectasis.

 

Sport Physicians

 

Sport physicians provide the following services:

 

·         Expert medical screening for sport participation.

·         Holistic medical care of the athlete, ranging from medical conditions in sport to sport-related injuries.

·         Coordinate referrals to the network of sport specialists in the immediate area for diagnostic-, imaging- and orthopedic intervention.

·         Coverage of sports events where doctors are required, as well as the organising and coordination of relevant medical personnel for such events.

 

Sports Injury Clinic

 

A sports injury clinic is situated at the Danie Craven Stadium. This allows for the management of acute injuries, while relevant referrals for appropriate medical interventions can also be made. In addition, a hospital is located a mere five minutes from SUSPI's premises, allowing for the swift handling of serious injuries or emergencies.
